9.4. Check and adjustment of a pedal of a brake

The free wheeling of a pedal serves one of criteria for check of serviceability of brake system. At the same time the provision of a pedal in many respects provides serviceable work of system. If the pedal is from a floor at distance, which more standard, probably incomplete rastormazhivaniye of wheels at a pedal otpuskaniye (thus usually there is no free wheeling of a pedal). If the pedal is too low, decrease in efficiency of the brakes, caused by reduction of a working course of a pedal is possible.

You will need a ruler.

1. Measure distance from an overlay of a pedal to a floor in a free condition.	2. Press a hand a pedal till increase in resistance and measure distance from an overlay of a pedal to a floor in this situation. The difference between these two measurements also will be a free wheeling of a pedal which should make 3–6 mm.

Measure distance from an overlay of a pedal to a floor in the pressed situation, for this purpose execute the following.

1. Start up the engine, several times sharply press a pedal of a brake and release a pedal.

2. Press a brake pedal once again and measure distance from a floor to pedal edge, it should make not less than 80 mm. If value less specified, replace the vacuum amplifier (see. «Replacement of the vacuum amplifier of brakes»).
