4.3.28. Check of overall performance of brake systemTo check overall performance of brake system it is desirable at special brake stands (similar to applied traffic polices at carrying out annual technical inspection of cars). As a last resort rough complex assesment of the work of brake system can be executed on the equal horizontal platform closed for a traffic. It is desirable, that the platform was evenly covered with a thin layer of sand.
The check described below can be carried out only on the cars which have not been equipped with ABS. If your car is equipped with anti-blocking system, it is better to address on HUNDRED.
The car without loading (in salon only the driver) disperse on the I transfer till speed about 15 km/h. Sharply press a brake pedal to block wheels, and do not release it to a full stop of the car.
Leave the car and examine the brake traces left wheels of the car. If brake traces of forward wheels are slightly longer back, and the length of traces at the left and on the right is identical, the brake system is serviceable. Otherwise repair system.

The following ratios (fig. 4.4) should be observed:
L lion. lane = L rights. lane.

Prevention
Do not abuse a similar assessment as it is connected with the increased unilateral wear of tires.
